Navigating Multiple Hospitals for Breast Cancer Treatment

Has anyone had procedures at different hospitals? Am wondering if/what I need to pay special attention to/coordinate/trust. I had biopsy where I’ve gotten Mammos for 20 years and surgery at a second hospital. Med Onc appt is in a few days at a 3rd hospital. I presume chemo and radiation will be there too. They have all asked for records from previous hospitals, and Med Oncology wants pathology slides from surgery to make their own determination so that will be a second opinion. Thanks!

Many cancer patients receive care across multiple facilities, and it's smart to think about coordination early in the process. The fact that each hospital is requesting records and the medical oncology team wants to review the pathology slides directly shows they're taking the right steps to ensure continuity of care. Having a second pathology review is actually a valuable part of the process that can provide additional confidence in treatment planning. Consider keeping your own folder with copies of key reports and test results, and don't hesitate to ask each team about how they communicate with your other providers - most hospitals have systems in place for this coordination.
