8 months agoHello everyone, I’m a 52 year old mother of 3 girls. I bio and 2 twin step. Newly diagnosed with IDC and DCIS stage 3 (Nottingham 3 score 8) and > 3 lymph nodes involvement. I have my first appointment today with my PCP to go over my results. So very new to this journey. My concern lies in the fact that I have had two mini strokes in the past 3 years and so regardless of my HER 2 status, hormone therapy is not an option for me. Also, I had neck surgery less then a year ago which required a titanium rod and cage. I’m still on the phase of trying to grow new bone in my neck. How will the radiation and chemo affect that growth? So many things to think about all at once!!!

Navigating a new breast cancer diagnosis while managing pre-existing health conditions adds extra layers of complexity that many others in this community understand. Your questions about how treatments might interact with your ongoing neck healing and history of mini strokes are exactly the kinds of important concerns to discuss thoroughly with your oncology team, as they'll be able to coordinate care across all your medical needs and help you understand how different treatment options might work in your specific situation.
