Why is my prostate cancer treatment different from others?

The best summary I can provide of this posting, based on my 3 years, 2 months, and counting since prostate cancer diagnosis, is this: 1. Almost nothing stated in the posting as happening to the PCa patient has happened to me. Example: "A multidisciplinary team can help you understand your options." I have never dealt with a "team" of any sort—"multidisciplinary" or otherwise—and none of my doctors and specialists has ever communicated in any way with any other of my doctors or specialists. 2. My experience has been the opposite of what's stated as common experience. Example: “There are two factors at play here. One is the cancer itself, and one is the individual and their overall health.” No one has ever inquired as to my overall health. When I was diagnosed, I was a world-ranked marathon runner: chronological age 73, physiological age 27. This counted for nothing in my treatment, because to this day, none of it is known to anyone I've dealt with. 3. One sentence of this posting DOES match my experience. It's the last sentence, which states: "'The more informed a patient is, the better." True. What that sentence fails to say, in my experience, is that the patient is solely and entirely responsible for being informed, and will have to independently research the risks and harmful effects of recommended treatments and procedures, and that PCa patients in general—according to studies—are nearly 50% over diagnosed and/or overtreated.
