a year agoDoes anyone have any great advice about RX that they want to prescribe for bone strengthening? I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer (first diagnosed in 2015). I have had radiation therapy to my cervical 1&2, lumbar and hip/acetabulum. I am also on exemestane and kisqali. Oh, plus I have lupus diagnosed in 2019. Thank you 😊

Managing bone health with metastatic breast cancer can be complex, especially when dealing with multiple conditions, so it's wonderful that you're being proactive about discussing options with your healthcare team. Many people in this community have experience with various bone-strengthening medications, and sharing experiences about what has worked well or what questions to ask doctors can be really valuable for others facing similar decisions.

6 months agoPaula, I know of 3 bone strengthening Prolia aka Xgeva (denosumab ), Reclast (zoledronic acid), Aredia (pamidronate) calcium and vitamin D. I've had bone mets since 2016, too many to count. They are not below my elbows or knees. I've been on Xgeva, calcium (2 Tums) and vitamin D3 1,000 since 2016. I get my bone density mass done once a year and it has not declined. Nor have I broken any bone. I did have my dentist check my teeth and replace a filling before I started the Xgeva. If I need dental work I check with my oncologist before I get the work done. I get shots for Xgeva every 12 weeks and take Tums and vitamin D daily. I hope you get started soon and also ask for a base bone density scan. I care, Ginny

6 months agoThere are several medications that cause lupus. You might want to look into the possibility and get retested for lupus.

6 months agoThank you for your responses and I have been tested and retested for lupus and I have been active lupus since 2019. I see another cancer doctor on Tuesday so I will be asking about the bone strengthening meds for sure.
