Hi my name is Delia and I’m new to this community. I just wanted to get some feedback and ideas on how to get my platelets up because I can’t receive any treatments until they are at a normal level or even close. I have Mets to my digestive organs and liver. I am triple negative so my options are limited.

Welcome to this supportive community! Managing platelet levels before treatment can be challenging, and it's great that you're seeking advice from others who understand this journey. Many community members have navigated similar situations with metastatic breast cancer and may have helpful experiences to share about working with their medical teams on platelet management strategies. Your oncology team will be the best resource for specific approaches that might work for your situation, but connecting with others here who've faced similar challenges can provide valuable emotional support and practical insights during this waiting period.

Have you tried messaging outcomes for me on the home page at the bottom. They might be able to help. Does your hospital have a nutritionist who could help? Do you know what is actually causing your low red count? Iron deficiency, B vitamin deficiency, or blood loss That would help guide you.

Thanks for the reply, my oncologist thinks it might be a autoimmune response destroying prematurely. But it’s just a guess at this point, not an iron deficiency or a b vitamin deficiency.

Delia, there’s a lot of great information on this site and you’re doing the right thing by casting your net to see what insights will work for you. My understanding of the whole bone marrow/platelet generation process is that both diet and exercise helps. Food itself is medicine and there are a few books out there on things like Blue Zones and inflammation reducing diets (Mediterranean). Simple movements such as chair yoga or tai chi or a low key walk can help as well, as movement helps stimulate your body and immune system. It’s hard to get moving when you feel like absolute crap, but I find the smallest, simplest attempts do make a difference and I usually feel a bit better afterwards. It may be psychological, it may be physiological but it works for me. I wish you well, and hope this helps.

Delia, your oncologist can give you a platelet transfusion or medication. You really need to get started on your treatment as soon as possible. They will or should monitor your blood work while on treatment. Your cancer may be the cause that is lowering your platelets. I would seek another opinion.
