Anybody on Antidepressant?? I think I need medication to function daily with MBC diagnosis. If so, does it work for you?

Many people living with metastatic breast cancer find that mental health support, including antidepressants when recommended by their healthcare team, can be an important part of their overall care plan. It's encouraging that you're recognizing your needs and considering all the tools available to help you navigate this journey - discussing these feelings with your oncologist or a mental health professional who understands cancer care can help you explore the best options for your specific situation.

Hi Candy. I have MBC also diagnosed last April. After the initial shock. I began to process this devastating diagnosis by praying a lot, eating better and staying really busy as much as my health will allow. That doesn’t mean I don’t have high anxiety every time I see my results of my frequent scans and bloodwork. Things are stable but I have a few new issues at present but it’s a risk from month to month. People who need antidepressants should take them if it’s interfering with your sleep and overall quality of life. I guess it’s an individual decision. We are here if you need to chat. Stay strong.

Do what you need to do to get by. Most antidepressants are effective but they do take time to work. There are several available talk to your doctor.😂

I was put on Lexapro with my initial dx almost 20 years ago and yes it has helped me. I use Ativan and Xanax when I need to.

I originally thought my exhaustion was depression and anxiety from my job. So he started me on cymbalta up to 90 mg. A week after my mBC diagnosis I had an appointment with him. I said, "Great News, I'm not depressed." I have mBC." He said, " we're going to keep you on the cymbalta. "It masks the bone pain. My highest bone pain has been a 2.

Antidepressants help me immensely. First diagnosis I started Effexor and it does help. Not really during chemo:/

I was on lamotrigine before my diagnosis, but then added welbutrin after. I think it works. But nothing worked with tamoxifen. That's why I stopped. And I always wonder if that's why I progressed to MBC.

I have stage four metastatic breast cancer. It’s been five yrs now and I look like nothing is wrong. I have a port and treatment every other week. My numbers have been going up I was put on an antidepressant back in the late 90s. It was a blessing then and now. Or get a councilor.

Hi I am a Mets 11 year survivor and an RN. I recognized symptoms and asked my doctor to place me on Zoloft for depression when I was first diagnosed and I continue to do well on it. Charlene
