Why do cancer drugs cause horrible throat slime and taste changes?

Do any of you have a "ribbon" of the most horrible tasting slime down your throat? Awful taste exuding from within my body...can't eat ANYTHING. Lost almost 100 pounds in 8 months. Puking and spitting up goop all the time (not to mention all the other symptoms that go along with Letrozole and Kisqali). I have MBC to my bones ( all of them; spine, ribs, skull, head to toe, too many lesions to count).

Cancer treatments like Letrozole and Kisqali can cause these challenging side effects because they affect the cells lining your mouth and throat, leading to changes in taste and increased mucus production. These medications can also slow down the renewal of taste buds and affect saliva production, making everything taste different or unpleasant. Many others in this community have shared similar experiences with taste changes and throat issues during treatment, so you're definitely not alone in dealing with these difficult symptoms.

I’m so sorry to hear of your reactions to the meds. To others- the only reaction I’ve had is hair loss.

I had to quit taking these meds to many side affects. I’m now on Enhertu every 21 days just finished my 5th treatment. Lot my hair and fatigue about 7 days then I feel pretty good.
