How do you manage severe bone pain with cancer when medications aren't enough?

I have bone cancer and am experiencing severe bone pain. I'm currently taking three pain medications - Gabapentin (gabapentin), oxycodone, and Lortab (hydrocodone plus acetaminophen) - but the pain has become really intense lately. My care team suggested this might mean my current pain management approach needs some changes, and they want to reassess things. I'd love to connect with others who have dealt with severe bone pain during cancer treatment and hear about your experiences. • What has your journey with bone pain management looked like, and what approaches have you tried? • Are there any comfort measures or daily strategies that have helped you get through the tough days?

Severe bone pain can be incredibly challenging, and reaching out to connect with others who understand this experience shows real strength. Many community members have found that pain management often requires adjustments over time, and it's encouraging that your care team is ready to reassess your current approach. Beyond medications, some have shared success with techniques like heat therapy, gentle movement when possible, meditation, and working with palliative care specialists who focus specifically on pain relief. Hopefully others here will share their experiences and strategies that have helped them navigate similar challenges.
