4 days agoDear Thomas O — I did so 27 months ago when I developed 25 complications of EBRT and ADT. Since then, none of the 25 has been resolved or alleviated, and I’ve developed 3 more, most recently, my insomnia was diagnosed as circadian rhythm disorder, owing to the radiation destroying not only all of my masculine hormones but also all of the hormones that regulate perception of day/night. So on a good night I sleep from about 10 pm to 2 am, when I awake suddenly and fully for the next 20 hours. Then I take double the adult maximum of trazodone to force sleep. Maybe I’m just weak, but that stresses my faith.

4 days agoFinding strength through faith and prayer can be a meaningful source of comfort for many people facing cancer. Spiritual practices often provide a sense of peace, hope, and connection during challenging times, and many find that prayer helps them feel less alone in their journey. Thank you for sharing this encouragement with the community - having sources of emotional and spiritual support alongside medical care can be an important part of overall well-being.

4 days agoHello Dave S, I too went through similar issues my friend and it wasn’t easy as you know.. For almost eight months I was going from the bedroom to the bathroom.. I looked like a holocaust survivor to put it mildly.. It wasn’t till I reached my breaking point when I dropped to my knees one day and gave EVERYTHING to Our Lord and Savior.. According to my oncologist he thinks I should have passed months ago.. Every day since has been nothing short of a miracle as far as I’m concerned.. Unfortunately none of us knows what Gods plans for us are nor do we know when He will call us home we can only hope for His salvation and Grace.. Do you ever watch the sun rise in the morning and pray Dave..? I do it daily and offer up my day to the Lord.. Thank Him for every breath and pray for guidance and wisdom to help me get through the day.. You my brother will be included in my prayers everyday for as long as I have.. DON’T LOSE FAITH MY BROTHER .. You’ve been Blessed with another day.. Something most people don’t know is that before the bible was translated into what we now know His Hebrew name was YESHUA.. God Bless Thomas O

4 days agoThomas O — Thanks for your words and quick reply. I do have to say I am considerably humbled in reading O4M postings by patients who have things much worse than I do. It’s when I feel most sorry for myself that I read the latest postings. Believe it or not, I can be quite good at comforting the newbies and assuring them that they will find they possess resources of faith and perseverance they didn’t know they had. And you, my friend, have done the same for me.

3 days agoDave S, I don’t know what it was but I was praying back in March for guidance and trying to figure out what purpose he had in store for me.. I had been seeing ads on tv about O4M for weeks, it seemed like every other commercial was about this site.. My wife said to me one day “ You’re coming with me to get your hair cut “ We walked into the salon and her hair dresser’s jaw dropped.. The last time I saw her I looked like a holocaust victim and could barely get in and out of the chair. Needless to say, we both started crying. She couldn’t believe how I looked like my old self again and was wondering what happened.. MY RESPONSE WAS, I GAVE IT TO GOD.! Her response was Tom. You have to share your story with people… First commercial I saw on TV when I got home was for this site and all I could hear was her response in my head.. So Dave here I be and I’m praying for everybody.. Pray for a purpose my friend and see what happens 🙏 God Bless Thomas O

2 days agoThomas O — That’s an inspiring story. Everything happens for a purpose. The challenge for we who are merely human is figuring out the purpose.

2 days agoLiterally, just got home from my every 2 week chemo day and I feel just horrible. Abdominal cancer that I got from a ruptured appendix I didn't know I had cause I don't have time - and have to be at work at ALL times, no time for urging care for what I thought was a UTI. Had to give up my home and move 1700 miles for a cancer specialty hospital. Miss my home, my yard, my many outside critters families, and the beach and Harbor at the end of the street. This tiny apt. sucks, but on disability in a very expensive city. But yet, I'm here, and He made me resilient. I went through 3 unsuccessdul surgeries since this came on in Oct. 2021 that I was not expected to make it through, and now, only chemo will keep it from growing. But I left my home on the beach for an apt. w/ a million dollar view, and all the mountains to visit, hike (on a good day) and go camping! So, I let Him guide this journey, since he put me on this earth initially. And I soak in the blessings right before me. He made me strong as an ox, and as faithful in the abilities I know he controls, and so I take advantage of every second I'm still here. He gave me this strength, it'd be a sacrilege. Lucky for me, Our Mother has stepped in and provides all the comfort and light in these dark days. She actually had the Pope guide my pup to Heaven when they both passed at the very second of each other. Yeah, faith is a tangible thing!
