I just completed my first round of chemo. I was told I need 3 month ct scans for a few months. I wasn't told I was in remission yet. So my cancer fund that was paying my rent is now going to be done but I still cant make I above a certin small amount if i go back to work or I'l lose my medical but cant swing my bills on the limit I can make working. Anyone's facing this impossible situation??

This financial gap between treatment phases is incredibly challenging, and many cancer patients face similar struggles with income limits affecting benefits while still having significant expenses. Consider reaching out to local cancer organizations, social workers at your treatment center, and financial assistance programs specifically designed for people in your situation - many have resources for those who are between active treatment and remission status. The community here has valuable experience navigating these complex financial situations, so sharing specifics about your location or insurance type might help others offer more targeted suggestions.

Hi Karen, yeah my short term disability ran out now I’m on long-term disability, but I also applied for a Social Security disability and I got approved but the problem with that is they won’t let me collect Social Security disability with my long-term disability so they combine it too, and it turns out that I make $3600 a month, which is OK if you don’t have any credit card bills which I got a ton of and I just bought this house like three years ago And my wife is working super amounts of overtime thank God My Son moved back in with us. He gives us $1000 a month and he does what he can around the house but it’s very very difficult right now and I’m hoping to retire in February. I’m 59 years old. I just have to wait to be 59 1/2 so I don’t get whack with taxes and I could take money out of mine 401(k) because I am so far behind in bills it’s not even funny and hopefully I can get back on track and I really hope that for me and for you, you can recoup some of that. Just pay your rent as an accomplishment and that’s really all I wanted. There was be able to pay my rent and put gas in a car and be able to keep the insurance is up health insurance, and car insurance Cause I gotta be pretty soon. I’m gonna be going to flea markets and selling a lot of my stuff, but that’s that’s the way it is. I have one friend who just went through testicular cancer & somebody helped him out with a go fund me because dig this his freaking apartment burned down, but not by his hand somebody went to sleep in his apartment building with candles, burning all over the place and caught up on fire in his apartment was right next to him. He lost everything but one of his buddies from Rutgers basketball team heard about it, and he started to go fund me for him and he got some pretty good coin from what I understand and it helped him get back on his feet . I don’t know how old you are or if you plan on going back to work soon and what have you but it’s rough especially if you’re single and you’re trying to take care of yourself. It’s hard there’s been days when I didn’t feel like eating I have to get unenforced myself and all the other things you know like doing your laundry Just simple things that you take for granted was a challenge. I pray for you and I hope things work out, but I really do believe in prayer and I’ve had a lot of people praying for me and I really think that helped me out but keep praying you’ll get through this . God bless Karen be cool and I’ll keep praying for you.
