What should I expect after stopping Optivo treatment for melanoma?

11 days agoDiagnosis 1/10/20 started Optivo 2/2/20. Also had stroke 12/26/19 had craniaotomy that's when melanoma discovered in brain. Many MRIs and Scans nothing discovered advancing. Oncologist says time to take a break from Optivo side effects causing some weakness. Anyone on Optivo for 5 years taken off know what symptoms to look for. Having more MRIs at 3 months being off of Optivo. Also currently having siatica problems. Got shot helped am having PT two times a week. Pain on left leg causing sleep problems.

10 days agoTaking a treatment break after five years is a significant transition that many in the cancer community can relate to. The most important thing will be staying connected with your medical team through those regular MRIs and scans to monitor how things are progressing. Others here who have experience with treatment breaks might be able to share what they noticed during their time off and how they managed the adjustment period - hopefully some community members will chime in with their experiences to help you know what to watch for.
