Finding housing assistance during cancer treatment is a real challenge that many patients face. There are several resources that might help, including local cancer support organizations, the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program, hospital social workers who often know about temporary housing options, and state/local assistance programs for people with medical needs. Consider reaching out to the social work department at the treatment center - they're often the best starting point for connecting with housing resources in the area. Many communities also have cancer-specific nonprofits that provide temporary housing assistance during treatment periods.

Hello Robbie, I’m new to this app and want to help where I can. I, too, am an oral cancer survivor, now out three years. Are you not local to a Cancer Center or are you remote and have to drive a fair ways? If you require radiation, yes, you will typically have Monday through Friday treatments for seven weeks equals 35 treatments. If indeed you need help with housing, your Cancer Center should be able to help direct you to resources. They may even have a patient advocacy fund to help with costs. If you are like me, I experienced anxiety until I met with Drs. and had a plan. Don’t hesitate to request therapeutics because anxiety is real and I don’t wish you own anyone. Keep us informed with your diagnosis and the many questions you’ll likely have.
