How long does hip pain last after robotic hysterectomy?

I had a hysterectomy (robotic) on September 12. I thought after a couple of weeks I would not have any pain but my left hip is painful without meds. So I thought a couple more weeks and it would be good. I’m still experiencing pain. Tylenol or ibuprofen is good with the muscle relaxer. Is this normal? If so how long before I can experience no pain?

Recovery timelines can vary significantly from person to person, and hip discomfort following robotic surgery isn't uncommon due to positioning during the procedure and the body's healing process. It's encouraging that the pain management combination is helping, but since it's been several weeks, this would be a great topic to discuss with your surgical team to ensure everything is healing as expected and to get their guidance on your specific recovery timeline.

Hi Isabella, I’m so glad you are a part of our community. This sounds like a tough recovery and for that I am so sorry. I definitely think this persistent pain is something you should report to your medical team. Please keep us posted. 💛 Suzanne (Community Moderator)

Thank you everyone. The hip pain did go away. I then got a wound not from the surgery but from what we think was an ingrown hair. Since it was difficult for me to see I couldn’t take care of it apparently the way it needed. I had two courses of antibiotics but I didn’t realize it was opening up and growing. Finally I asked for a wound care nurse. We’re on the mend and I’m feeling so much better. Of course things just continue to pop up. Now I ache all over and my feet hurt. I’m in remission but as maintenance I do a 30 minute chemo every 3 weeks until whenever. I guess it’s better than taking a pill every day. It’s the devil you know? lol…
