Hi, my name is Nadia, I’m 60 years old and I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last month on April 2. I started my first chemo and had no nausea. But some fatigue and some neuropathy which was fairly tolerable, but what was not tolerable was the stomach pain after the first chemo? It was as if the inside of my intestines were sensitive too so even drinking water with room temperature was not tolerable for me. Has anyone else had this experience after having chemo?

Severe stomach pain and intestinal sensitivity after chemotherapy can be distressing side effects that some patients do experience. This type of discomfort is worth discussing with the oncology team, as they may be able to adjust medications or suggest strategies to help manage these symptoms. Many community members have found relief through various approaches their doctors recommended, so sharing experiences here could be helpful for others facing similar challenges.

I had slight discomfort, between some nausea and stomach ache. I have hard time getting liquids in too. I used anti-nausea pill and on occasion a 5 mg oxy, sometimes even half oxy would take edge off.

Thank you Maria, I just found out that my stomach cannot even take room temperature, beverages, or water. Therefore, anything that I drink needs to be warmer than room temperature and that way I’m having less discomfort. This might work for anyone else suffering from stomachache too.

Thanks God I’m not getting any secondary effect due to chemo.

I went thru the same effects as you had except for stomach pains. For the neuropathy I can suggest taking heavy liads of vitamin b6 and b12. It has almost eliminated the neuropathy in my fingertips but no change in my feet.

Yes make sure to add Claritin to the medications you take . It helps with the bone pain after a shot of Nulasta which can be given especially if you’re White blood cells are low need it to build back up was a game changer . Also take the pain meds given your a cancer patient now you need to stay as strong as you can eat for the chemo it’s the killer not actually the cancer . You will figure out what’s best for your side effects but never hurts to hear it and try all the remedies because no Cancer journey is exactly the same . Praying for you on this Journey .
