3 months agoRecovery time after Whipple surgery varies greatly from person to person, typically ranging from several weeks to several months for most daily activities, with full recovery often taking 6-12 months or longer. It sounds like the recovery process has been going more smoothly than expected, which is wonderful to hear, and many others in this community would likely benefit from hearing about different recovery experiences and what has helped along the way.

2 months agoMy name is Robert Tipper and this is my first time on this app. I am waiting for the results of my biopsy. They found a solid tumor the size of a quarter on my pancreas. I was told the hard tumors are the bad ones. Any input would be appreciated. God bless you all.

2 months agoWhen posting please state your age. Your decisions very possibly are not for me being I’m 86. I’m Stage 2B. I turned down having Whipple at my age. And, I feel good so why go through it at my age.

2 months agoMy oncologist told me I was stage 2 1/2 when I first saw him. Asked him again he said 3. All my scans are negative but my ca19-9 is extremely elevated so he thinks it’s in the lining of my abdomen and the only way to know is to wait until I’m having symptoms.

21 days agoI’m 71. My oncologist told me when it comes to pancreatic cancer don’t be concerned with the stage. I told him I didn’t want an expectant life span. So many praying for me. I’m told I don’t look sick by so many people. Family and church family encourage me and bring me to all my appointments they stay in constant contact. Support is crucial for me. They encourage proper eating habits, spend time with me, pray over me. They just love me. I read books about God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit and I talk to them all day long. Praying for others help me as well. Now I’m praying for y’all that I meet on this app. ❤️🙏🏻

20 days agoMy mom turned 80 December 16,2025 and had the whipper surgery on December 3,2025 . It's been really rough on her . When they found it back in august it was stage 2b After them waiting till december to do anything and now it's Stage 3 almost 4 they said . And said they removed it all during surgery but it had spread to limpthnoids and bile duct and vein . It's only the head of the pancreas when they found it back in August ! They took there time on doing anything ! Now they want to start chemo January 27 th 2025 . The second option cause the first one would be to hard on her they said . She is down to 93lbs ! Very frail now . It's been really hard to get her to listen to me her only daughter and her 3 sons . She keeps getting uti,s and that has caused her mind to not think straight a lot . Tried to get her to get a second opinion but she refused to . She just now believes she has cancer ! She still can't eat hardly anything . She still has pain pretty bad . She still has to use a walker to get around at all . She thought the whipple surgery was going to be in and out in 6 days tops . When she woke up after the 3.5 hour surgery she said i didn't think it was going to be this big of a surgery and i was going to be in so much pain . She slept most of the time the first couple a weeks in the hospital and had a catheter and her surgery and they sent her home with it in her on her birthday, which was a nightmare and we ended up taking her back to the hospital closer and that made her and kept her for another week to clear up the UTI. she has now been out of the hospital since Christmas Eve and is improving little by little, but still have some pretty bad days and still very tired all the time we saw oncoligist the first time or I should say the second time since this was found and then he tells us that it is now stage three that it had moved to her lymph nodes and bile duct a vein or something like that. And it now stage 3 . But the surgeon removed all the cancer at that time . And gave her a 75% chance it will come back and maybe 1 to two years to live but doughtful she will live that long . I'm mad because they waited so long to do anything and it had spread by then ! My mom has asthma but lived a very healthy life still . She is 5 ft tall and never weighed more then 125 lbs in her life even pregnant 5 times the most she weighed was 131 . Cancer sucks , but for her to get this kind really sucks ! Her mom lived to be 97 and just died from bone cancer in may of 2024 . She has breast cancer 3 times in her life before bone cancer to her . We don't know what yo do or tell her what would be best to do if anything at this point . We want her to be ok and it not come back but know that is not what is going to happen . I'm so lost and angry and scared for her . I love my mom she is my best friend ! And i have no faith in the care team anymore at all ! And i don't think chemo will make anything better and only make her sick with the time she has left .Help me help her please tell us what to do ! What is the best for her now ? What woukd you want your mom to do ?
