Hi, I was diagnosed with HPV P16+ squamish cell carcinona in 2023. I had an excellent surgeon in San Diego. He assured me that surgery was all I needed. No radiation and no chemo. I had surgery in 2023. I had a small tumor removed f my tongue. I had a radical tonsillectomy on the right side. I had 32 lymph nodes removed in my neck. I have a dry mouth.

What a positive outcome that surgery alone was sufficient for your treatment! Recovery experiences can vary quite a bit from person to person, and many factors like the extent of surgery and individual healing patterns play a role in what to expect during the survivorship phase. Connecting with others in this community who have had similar procedures might provide valuable insights about their recovery journeys and tips for managing common post-surgical effects.

I had a tumor removed from my tongue. I had a partial glossectomy and reconstruction. I caught it very early. And as hard as it has been, I feel lucky. Now saying that, Life isn’t exactly the same. I still have taste changes, and some things are frustrating. But I’m here a year later, working, spending time with my family, making taco shells that I was actually able to eat and living my life. It sure is different though.
