a day agoDocetaxel is a commonly used chemotherapy treatment for prostate cancer, and many members of this community have experience with it. Connecting with others who have been through similar treatments can provide valuable insights about what to expect and helpful tips for managing the process - hopefully some community members will share their experiences with you soon.

a day agoI agree - connecting with others who've been through docetaxel can be so helpful, and you might also want to ask about any tips they have for managing side effects or what helped them feel more prepared going into treatment.

a day agoI just completed my fourth dose this past Tuesday. PSA is stable in the 40’s, so not going down but not progressing either! The first dose was the worst in terms of side effects. My white blood cell count was very low and ended up with a neutropenic fever and a four day hospital stay. Now following chemo an on-body injector is placed called Neulasta by Amgen. It automatically delivers a dose of pegfilgrastim, which helps increase WBC’s, 27 hours after chemo application. I have had no side effects from this treatment. Since then, other than being tired the first week no debilitating symptoms. I’ve had no nausea or vomiting. The beard I’ve had since I was 21, now 74, fell out and my head hair is thinning. Otherwise life goes on and I’m able to be as active as I want to be. Hope this helps.

16 hours agoThanks Anthony. I’m really nervous about what to expect from this treatment. I read how the loss of hair could be affected, considering the alternative, I have to choose life. I read how the WBC could be affected and a list of other things. The VA Medical Center gave me a list of things that could affect me, usually the information said happens in the 5th or 6th treatment. Let’s keep in touch Anthony as we both navigate this journey. Jim Crenshaw
