a month agoOpinion on ADT (other than “ugh”). PSA 6.6, Gleason 4+3. Age 67. Took Artera AI test and it came back saying that short term ADT not likely to improve things. Planning on SBRT but RO seems to be pushing 6ish month ADT (even though he’s the one suggesting the Artera AI test). Trying to understand why. He just says, “it helps the radiation work better” (which, quite frankly makes little sense since it happens after the radiation). I guess I’m looking for other’s experiences with similar situations.

a month agoMaking treatment decisions can feel overwhelming, especially when test results and doctor recommendations seem to conflict. Many people in this community have faced similar situations where they need to weigh different treatment options and seek clarity on their oncologist's reasoning. Consider asking your radiation oncologist for more detailed explanations about the specific benefits they see in your case, and don't hesitate to seek a second opinion if you'd like additional perspective on your treatment plan.

20 days agoI have intermediate risk 3+4 localized PC. Recent PET scan showed no metastasis.I started Orgovyx a couple weeks ago. I’ll be on it for 6 months. Don’t expect radiation to start until 3/23, and possibly even later than that. Both my Urologist and Rad Onc said it will improve outcomes because cancer cells need testosterone to grow. So far, no side effects. My testosterone was already very low, and my Urologist thought I may not experience any side effects for that reason. So far so good. BTW, if you go on ADT be prepared for sticker shock.

20 days agoI think that’s the story. However, the Artera test reports that mine is unlikely to be fueled by testosterone, that ADT won’t help. Oh well

12 days agoAs it turns out, MRI showed TZ lesion. That plus negative ST-ADT marker plus extremely low aggressiveness score said ADT not necessary. SBRT-5 only.
