a year agoI should not be talking to strangers
Accepted Answer
It's completely understandable to feel cautious about opening up to new people, especially when dealing with health challenges. Building trust takes time, and it's important to feel safe in any interaction. Many community members find that connecting with others who share similar experiences can provide valuable support when the timing feels right. What feels most comfortable for you in terms of connecting with others right now?

6 months agoWe're not strangers Lyra, we are all victims of this horrible disease! We need to talk survive by getting advice from people at different stages, or just to feel like we are not alone.❣

6 months agoThere is a lot of loneliness in cancer treatment, especially the drives to appointments that are farther away. I was lucky that my radiation was close by. Support is there sometimes. Most people think you are OK after you finish radiation, chemo, surgery. I actually tried to be open and honest about how bad I was still feeling with my family but they were not supportive at all. No phone calls or anything. I really appreciate my physical therapists, radiation techs, the amazing cheerful receptionists at the offices and medical assistants at offices and my wonderful housekeepers. Their care and kindness carried me through. It has been 6 months since my surgery and I still don't feel well, fatigue and pain.

6 months agoI am sorry your family doesn't want to help you out. It isn't a one appointment and done illness. I would like to say the pain goes away and we will feel great, one day it will happen.

4 months agoHey Cat, I really hesitate to say this but I do think that we are probably better off without the ones who don't show up for us. One of my wife's favorite sayings is that everything happens for a reason. I realize that it is sometimes difficult to figure out the reason, sometimes impossible. It takes a lot of strength to make peace with the reasons we can't figure out so that is what I'm wishing for you, the strength to find the peace within to accept those things that you cannot change. Stay positive and focused on your cancer journey and enjoy the friendliness that comes from wherever and whenever it shows up! Stay strong and fight like a warrior!!!
