Your next steps will likely include meeting with your medical oncologist to discuss treatment options and getting those lymph nodes checked, which will help create a complete picture for your care team. This waiting period between appointments can feel overwhelming, but you're taking all the right steps by working with your medical team and reaching out for support here in the community. Many others in this space have walked similar paths and understand the mix of questions and emotions that come with a new diagnosis.

Once you see your oncologist, it will be the time to discuss treatment. The surgeon who performed the lumpectomy probably requested a biopsy to have a better idea of the characteristics of the tumor. Your oncologist might request an oncotype test to assess if chemotherapy might be an initial treatment or not. Good luck

There’s a great book called “The Smart Woman’s guide to Breast cancer” that will help you understand all the terms, steps and options. A really great way to get informed. Written by a breast cancer surgeon
