Hello,, My name is Yvonne, I will have a mastectomy on my left and a reduction/lift on the right side. My surgery is 12/9. Im really nervous about the recovery. They said it'll take 2 months to fully heal. The surgeon is also taking 2 lymphnodes out for pathology. Im hoping im cancer free. I have stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Just finished chemo. Has anyone been through this surgery and recovery. Please help me navigate through this. Im really scared..

The feelings before surgery are completely understandable, and many community members have walked this path and found strength they didn't know they had. Recovery experiences vary from person to person, but having a clear timeline from your medical team and finishing chemo are both positive steps forward. This community has wonderful members who have been through similar procedures and can share their recovery insights and practical tips that helped them through the process.

Wishing you well and positive thoughts and prayers sent. I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma in Dec 2022 and had a left massectomy done w/removal of 20 lymph nodes, 13 were positive in Sept. 2023. So, I have been where you are. Just know you are not alone. For me, it's been an adjustment, but I am grateful to still be here. Keep your head up and stay positive.. You got this... Don't be scared of it. Kick its Azz!! ❤️

Hey Indra, I had my surgery 3 days ago.. im really sore getting up and down. When im Stationary im fine.. I have 2 drains on myeft side. Also, I have a tissue expander in left side. Maybe that's why it hurts so dam much. I jist got rewrapped today and that was painful. Going back on Monday to try compression bra. Thanks for responding. I. Not patient with staying still and have people doing things for me. This is an adjustment for sure.

Yes, for sure an adjustment. I hope by now you are feeling a lil better. Although it may seem like forever, but just know, this too shall pass... Sending love and warm thoughts and prayers. Oh, I also don't like sitting still, but if you can, try to. Don't rush your healing process. You sure don't want to go and mess up anything. Lawrd, dat will just make things worse. I know, easier said than done... ❤️💯

Hi Yvonne, Hope you are feeling better as the days go by. Just remind yourself that you have the courage to go on. A lot of people have given up when they hear the word cancer. We are the brave that are busy living. Best of the holiday and 💕.
