5 months agoI have been diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer and will not know a proper diagnosis until after a full hysterectomy and dissection of my lymph nodes. I had no idea that there could be complications after being menopausal for 16 years, I just thought the spotting that started was just my body aging little did I know that it would change. I have no family history that I know of so this was a shock after hearing the words Cancer. I am having my surgery October 30 so is there any advice you can give me for afterwards? Thanks Eileen 🦋

Recovery from hysterectomy surgery typically involves several weeks of healing, with most people gradually returning to normal activities over 6-8 weeks, though everyone's experience is unique. This community is filled with others who have walked similar paths and can offer valuable insights about managing post-surgical care, dealing with the emotional aspects of diagnosis, and navigating the recovery process - consider sharing updates about how things go so others can learn from your experience too.

5 months ago2-1/2 weeks post-op total hysterectomy after 17 yrs menopausal. My advice is to sleep with upper body inclined with pillow under your knees. Be careful with strong pain meds as they come with some unpleasant side effects. Walk as soon as you can manage. Gentle, short walks every awake hour if possible. Eat several small meals daily. Nice warm showers are heavenly.

4 months agoI was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in February of this year. I had a total hysterectomy in March. Take it easy for 6-8 weeks. Get lots of sleep and rest. I was diagnosed with Stage 1b Grade 2 cancer. I had 4 radiotherapy treatments. Although my surgeon says I have a 90% cure rate, I worry about the 10% of it returning. I am checked every 3 months. Just be prepared for lots of doctor appointments. If you can take someone with you to the appointments, it helps to have 2 sets of ears listening to the doctors.

2 months agoThis is what I am going through - I am 71, my total hysterectomy is next week (Feb 2026). Very nervous and scared, everyone says "be positive" but how? Also, how are you doing these months later? Any advice/tips? Thanks
