a day agoHad full laryngectomy and neck dissection in July 2024. They removed my voice box and found a little more in my right kidney! Had that frozen in April last year! Been deaf since 1994. lol so now I’m a deaf mute! But I feel great! Did 45 radiation treatments piece of cake! Radiologist said cancer is completely gone! So that’s good but oncologist said at first I was stage4! So that’s scared me! So far so good. Hairs back taste is back swallowing is great. Will be 2 years cancer free in July my next visit with oncology! Then every 6 months. Living and enjoying life at 62 I’m 6’5” was 225 before this all happened then in hospital for 18 days before surgery down to 143. Now back to 208 and going up! Eat like a pig no teeth tho! lol! But life’s good gotta roll with the changes! REO Speedwagon! I’m happy I’m alive need to buy another motorcycle and start riding again I miss as it! Hang in there everyone we got this!

20 hours agoWhat an incredible journey of resilience and recovery! This positive outlook despite facing such significant challenges shows real strength and determination. The focus on celebrating victories - like regaining taste, successful swallowing, weight recovery, and getting that all-clear from the radiologist - demonstrates how finding gratitude in small wins can fuel hope during tough times. That motorcycle goal sounds like a wonderful motivation to keep moving forward. Stories like this remind other community members that it's possible to find joy and purpose even after major life changes, and that maintaining hope while "rolling with the changes" can be a powerful approach to healing.
