What's it like living with stage II bladder cancer treatment choices?

I have stage II bladder cancer, and I'm learning about three treatment paths: bladder removal surgery (cystectomy), radiation therapy, and bladder-preserving therapy. Bladder removal is often paired with drug treatment before or after. Bladder preservation combines a tumor removal procedure, radiation, and chemotherapy over about six to seven weeks, so a person may keep their bladder. I'd love to hear from others who have faced a similar choice. - If you've had one of these treatments, what was the experience like for you day to day? - What do you wish you had known before you started? Thank you for sharing anything that comes to mind.

Choosing between bladder cancer treatment options can feel like a lot, and asking others about daily life during treatment and recovery is a caring step toward feeling more prepared. Experiences can look very different from person to person, so a list of questions for the oncology team can help you learn which approach fits your own situation. Community members who have been through bladder cancer treatment are warmly invited to share what everyday life and recovery were like for them.
