3 months agoMy name is Yvonne Bennetti. I'm triple positive . I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma stage 2. After my chemo ends, im inquiring about DIEP Flap surgery for one breast. How is the recovery. Will it be symmetrical? How long is recovery? Has anyone had this type of surgery? Is it worth the time out of work and cost after insurance?.
Accepted Answer
Recovery from DIEP flap reconstruction typically takes several months, with many people returning to desk work in 2-4 weeks and full activity in 6-8 weeks, though healing continues for months afterward. This is a big decision with many factors to consider, and connecting with others who've been through this procedure could provide valuable insights about recovery experiences, symmetry outcomes, and the overall impact on daily life and work.

3 months agoIm not going to do it. I was offered that, as well. Scars are power, and they said it it could heal differently than what they do, and I will still end up with a scar. I have a little dimple, but nothing worth spending thousands on just to make it a little "prettier"...maybe. the nerve sensation i have now is more than enough and I wouldn't want to go through that again. Figured after chemo and radiation I am good to go, my scar will have a "survivor" placed where my scars are.
