6 months agoI was diagnosed with ILC and due to size of mass had a double mastectomy a week later. Some lymph nodes were removed at that time . They were cancerous . 2 weeks later I had lymph nodes removed from right side. I am having extreme shocking pain under the armpit area. The pain is to the point it takes your breathe. I have seen my HCP and was given medication . I wanted to see if anyone else had same experience and if so , how long did it last. Thank you !

That type of severe nerve pain after lymph node removal is unfortunately quite common and can be incredibly intense. Many community members have shared similar experiences with shocking, breath-taking pain in the armpit area following lymph node surgery, and while recovery timelines vary from person to person, most find that the sharp nerve pain gradually improves over several weeks to months as the nerves heal. It's encouraging that your healthcare provider has already prescribed medication to help manage this pain - please don't hesitate to follow up with them if the current treatment isn't providing enough relief, as there are often additional options available.

6 months agoI had dbl mastectomy and all lymph nodes removed under one arm. 2were cancer. Yes a PT that specializes in cancer was a life saver. They get your arms ready for radiation and they are so knowledgeable. Talked to me more than any of the doctors!

6 months agoYou can expect around 3 months of pain and tightness and it might be back once in awhile but within 3 months is the worst. This is major surgery!
