3 months agoI have had stable pancreatic NET tumors until last week. Cancer is in pancreas, duodenum, liver and they see a suspicious nodule in my lung. Whipple procedure was discussed but I am 70 yrs old and very apprehensive about having it done . Has any other seniors had this done and did well?

Many seniors do undergo Whipple procedures successfully, and age alone doesn't determine whether someone is a good candidate for this surgery. Your medical team will consider your overall health, fitness level, and other factors beyond just age when making recommendations. It's completely understandable to feel apprehensive about such a major procedure - hopefully others in the community can share their experiences to help you feel more informed as you discuss options with your doctors.

3 months agoI did! I was 69 3/4 and did very well. 2022 March.. worked well for me, but we all have to be comfortable with our own treatment.

3 months agoMy dad is 76 and about to undergo the Whipple. Trust your surgeon. If they feel confident they can get you through the surgery and recovered, I would suggest doing it. Trust in God.

a month agoHad pancreatic cancer diagnosis in Jan 25. Had Whipple surgery on June 27. It’s a long road to recovery. Took my gallbladder, head of pancreas, rearranged my intestines and stomach. Have not done radiation… 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Don’t think I can endure any more. Sick, weak, good appetite, lost 53 lbs, bowls erupt all hours of day/night, tired etc etc. I’m 77 yrs old, but struggling everyday. Not very optimistic this is going to be over. BUT….i am blessed w a wonderful husband- caregiver. To sum it up…..expecting life to never be the same but I’m ALIVE!!! God is GOOD!!
