What are my treatment options when neck cancer surgery can't remove it all?

I had more neck surgery today for reoccurring salivary ductal carcinoma in my neck. They couldn't get it all. I can't have more radiation in the same place. Tissue samples will determine the only option now. The cancer I have is rare but resembles breast ductal carcinoma. Hoping for a new effective chemical therapy. I haven't given up yet.

When surgery can't remove all the cancer, there are often additional treatment paths to explore, including targeted therapies, immunotherapy, or clinical trials specifically designed for rare cancers like salivary ductal carcinoma. The tissue analysis will provide valuable information to help determine the most effective next steps, and the medical team can discuss all available options based on those results.

Was immunotherapy ever mentioned as an alternative to standard treatment?

It turns out the tumor is benign. The pet scan reacted to radiation damages in my neck.

Irene, I had a year of immunotherapy in addition to radiation and surgery.
