7 months agoWent bald during chemo. Pre-treatment hair was long and wavy. Going salt and pepper. Age 68. 2 1/2 years out from end of chemo. Two years out from end of treatment, although still taking Zometa infusion every 6 months. Regrown hair is spotty scraggly curly frizzy- take your choice. Using minoxidil and Viviscal Pro . Scalp is always very itchy! Suggestions?

Post-chemo hair regrowth can be frustrating, especially when dealing with texture changes and scalp irritation. Many fellow community members have found success discussing scalp care routines with their oncology team or dermatologist, particularly for managing itchiness which can sometimes interfere with healthy regrowth. Have others in the community experienced similar changes in hair texture after treatment?

6 months agoHeidi, I’m off chemo since late December and my hair is slowly growing back. Yes, curly, but I’m using a Biotin/Collagen based shampoo daily and was told to not do anything until enough hair grows back. I also had long, thick hair and this is difficult. I’m also taking a biotin vitamin. The pharmacist told me to stay away from other meds because the hair loss was “chemotherapy,” based and not inherited alopecia. Minoxidil not recommended she said. Best wishes to both of us. I’m still in a nice wig. Helps self-esteem. 🙏
