Why aren't my chemo treatments working with TP53 mutation?

I'm on my 6th chemo and this TP53 mutation is causing the chemo treatments to not be as effective. I was 1st diagnosed in September 2023 and started chemo in November of that year. I had a lumpectomy in April 2024, a mastectomy in July 2024. Started Xeloda in November 2024 relapsed. Started Trodelvy in January 2025 relapsed, started Eribulin in December 2025 and the tumors started growing like crazy in the mastectomy area, under my left arm, and head towards my back. January 2026 stared Gemcitabine, Carboplatin, and Keytruda. Saw some shrinkage, but I missed a treatment cause my numbers were too low and they started growing again. March I started Doxorubicin and have noticed the tumors have shrunk and are not protruding in the mastectomy area, but I've had open wounds since using the Eribulin in that area.

TP53 mutations can make cancer cells more resistant to certain chemotherapy treatments, which helps explain some of the challenges with treatment response. It sounds like you've been through an incredibly difficult journey with multiple treatment changes, and it's encouraging to hear that the current treatment is showing some positive effects with tumor shrinkage. Many others in this community have faced similar struggles with treatment resistance and understand how frustrating and exhausting this process can be - your oncology team will be the best resource for discussing how the TP53 mutation specifically affects your treatment options and next steps.
