Since 2012, August 1st has been dedicated to World Lung Cancer Day to raise awareness about lung cancer issues and the further research needed to support patients. In this blog, we’ll highlight five remarkable non-profits that are particularly impactful in the fight against lung cancer. These organizations provide essential resources, support, and advocacy for those affected by lung cancer.
Whether through research funding, patient services, or public education, the organizations below are committed to improving outcomes and quality of life for lung cancer patients.
1) LUNGevity
The largest lung cancer-focused nonprofit dedicated to improving outcomes for people living with lung cancer, LUNGevity funds research, provides educational tools and offers one-on-one online and in-person support to patients across the United States. Their website is easy to navigate and includes educational content for patients, caregivers, survivors, and donors looking to help make a difference. An online community dedicated to providing real-life stories from patients, caregivers, and advocates, LVNG relies on crowdsourced community stories and offers a Facebook community for connecting with others living with lung cancer, in real-time.
The self-proclaimed go-to for lung cancer, GO2 personalized their support offering with one-to-one help for patients and caregivers, and keeps you updated on the latest research and health policy updates. From teachers to advocates to survivors, this non-profit also offers online communities to connect, learn, and find the support you need.
4) LCFA Lung Cancer Foundation of America
A nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness for the often transformative research happening every day to further the treatment of lung cancer and improve survival outcomes for those going through therapy of any kind for the disease.
The American Lung Association (ALA) is the most well-known nonprofit for lung cancer advocacy, education, and support. For over 120 years, the ALA has worked day in and day out to improve lung health, prevent lung cancer, and save lives. Their advocacy work also includes efforts to reduce tobacco use and make sure everyone around the world has clean air to breathe.
