How do I prepare for cancer treatment to start soon?

Hi Dyana I was also diagnosed with stage 2 and I finished radiation on August 17th. I want to ask you what chemo medicine you are taking because I took Capacitbine pills. I didn’t get a port I guess because I’m taking pills. But the radiation is okay the first 2 weeks then towards your third week you will see your skin being irritated inside and out. Please get aquaphor, desitin, preparation H and fragrance free wipes I got the Honest brand they are good. And if the pain is bad from using the bathroom ask for Gabapentin it helps with the pain. I am still currently healing from the radiation it takes time but my skin is looking better and using the bathroom still hurts not as much. It is not easy I won’t sugar coat it but you are strong and brave and you will get through it! God bless you and I will keep you in my prayers 🙏🏽❤️

Aloha Dyana My suggestion would be to stay ahead of the side effects as best you can by requesting nausea and anti diarrhea meds ahead of time. I had some radiation burns in my groin area and used a prescription crème for that area called strata XRT. I actually got samples from my rad onc. And even called the company for samples. Used “udderly crème” for my hands a feat to prevent them peeling some meds cause. I took the oral meds at home so didn’t have a port. I sailed thru the first 3 weeks then the last 3 weeks were the worst as the radiation is cumulative and worse at the end. But, it’s working so remind yourself of that. For me, the diarrhea was the worst part but now a distant memory. You’ll be fine working the first few weeks but may have to adjust as things get a little harder at the end. You’ve got this💪💪🌺
