Should I get bilateral mastectomy after second breast cancer diagnosis?

Hello. I was diagnosed Dec. 2022, my cancer was small 1.5 cm so I had a lumpectomy, it was on the outer right breast, close to my armpit. I wanted a masectomy but surgeon said lumpectomy. They took 4 nodes and 1 was positive. I had full radical radiation (from collar bone, under breast and underarm) I did not take AI’s my onco type score was 18% (I NOW know that score was WITH hormone blockers) so, 2 days ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, same breast, different location. I’m meeting with doctors this week. I already know masectomy is happening but I’m truly thinking about both. Has anyone had similar

This sounds like an incredibly difficult situation to navigate, and it's completely understandable to be considering all available options after a second diagnosis. Many community members have faced similar decisions about bilateral procedures, and their experiences and perspectives could be really valuable as you work through this choice with your medical team. The decision is deeply personal and depends on many individual factors that only you and your doctors can fully evaluate together. Hoping others who have walked this path will share their thoughts and experiences to help support you during this challenging time.
