5 days agoI need some help/advice. I started my treatment back in December for HR negative HER2 Positive IDC. After 9 weeks into my first round of 12 weekly chemo with Herceptin I was diagnosed with chemo induced pneumonitis. Immediately all cancer treatment was stopped and I have been told because of the extensive damage to my lungs, which has landed me in hospital for the better part of the last two months, I will never be able to receive any cancer treatment again. Does anyone know of any clinical trials that will work with someone who has been diagnosed with pneumonitis/ILD to treat their cancer? As of now, I’ve basically been given a choice to either die from my lung toxicity, or from my cancer.

5 days agoThis sounds like an incredibly difficult situation, and it's understandable to want to explore every possible treatment option. Clinical trials for cancer patients with pneumonitis or interstitial lung disease do exist, though they may be limited and highly specialized. Consider reaching out to major cancer centers that conduct research, discussing options with a pulmonary oncologist who specializes in drug-induced lung injury, or contacting organizations like ClinicalTrials.gov to search for relevant studies - sometimes trials are designed specifically for patients who cannot tolerate standard treatments due to complications like yours.
