Is pseudo signet ring cell cancer real cancer?

Regarding “Pseudo Signet Ring,” which is a mimic. I want to make it very clear; ((this is very rare.)) According to the study, the tumor does grow. It does show up on scans. And it looks just like cancer. However, It DOES NOT spread. And the cells DO NOT penetrate the basement membrane, everything sits on the surface. For me, because my cancer did not spread, with a tumor they say I’ve had for a year or more, I wanted to know! Is it cancer? It took my primary Dr. who’s no older than my son, who took the time to read the study on it, and also contacted the initial hospital that diagnosed me to ask questions, to finally find out, I Do Have Cancer. Why couldn’t my Oncology team have done this. I certainly asked, multiple times. It was just a matter of comparing the Pseudo / Mimic to my situation and explaining to me what they saw. But they didn’t; they wouldn’t! As a result; the only time I slept, was after my body got exhausted. They blamed my lack of sleep on the research we were doing, when all they had to do was simply answer my questions.

Wanting a clear answer about whether pseudo signet ring cells count as cancer is completely reasonable, and the confusing terminology around signet ring cell findings in esophageal and EG junction cancers can leave many people with more questions than answers. Because pathology reports differ from person to person, the care team and pathologist are the best sources for explaining how a specific diagnosis is classified. It can help to write questions down and ask for a plain-language explanation, or to ask whether a second pathology review makes sense. Clear communication and restful sleep matter during this journey, and others in this community are welcome to share how they got answers about their own pathology results.
