4 days agoHi, my husband was diagnosed with stage 3 cholangiocarcinoma in April. He did 4 cycles of Gemcis that did not stop the cancer; it grew in place. He was very tired on Gemcis and felt awful, also had kidney issues. They switched him to Folfox so far, one treatment, and he seems to have fewer symptoms. They will do 3 more, then test him. Any thoughts on what else he can do? We feel like they do not have answers on what will work. Thanks for any input.

3 days agoMany patients with stage 3 cholangiocarcinoma do find that FOLFOX can be effective when gemcitabine-based treatments haven't worked, and it's encouraging that the side effects seem more manageable so far. The uncertainty about treatment options can feel overwhelming, but oncologists often have additional therapies to consider based on how this round goes, including clinical trials and newer targeted treatments that might be options depending on the specific tumor characteristics.
