Update - recent Y-90 treatment has killed the 2 mutated (Exon 17) GIST tumors in my liver and I am on 160 mg daily Stivarga (chemo pill) which seems to be keeping other tumors in my liver “at bay”. The downside of this daily medication (besides pain, fatigue and mouth sores) is my glucose levels have now made me “diabetic “. Eating (trying to gain some weight back) has become an issue. I am still fighting though and SO GRATEFUL that the mutated tumors have been zapped into oblivion! 💥 Hang in there folks I truly believe it is all worth it to achieve a joyful existence.

Managing diabetes alongside cancer treatment adds another layer of complexity to an already challenging journey. Many patients find that working closely with both their oncology team and an endocrinologist can help balance blood sugar levels while maintaining necessary cancer treatments. Your positive attitude and gratitude shine through - celebrating treatment victories while navigating side effects takes incredible strength, and your encouragement to others in the community is truly valuable.
