Port access challenges can definitely be concerning, especially when it requires multiple attempts or repositioning to find the right spot. Many patients with deeper ports or those placed through previous surgical sites experience similar access difficulties due to scar tissue formation. The good news is that experienced infusion nurses often develop techniques to successfully access even challenging ports, and it sounds like your team is finding ways to make it work. Consider discussing your concerns with your oncologist or surgeon - they might be able to provide additional guidance or evaluate whether any adjustments could help make future access easier.
