3 years agoHow long does radiation take from start to finish? I’m trying to figure out if I am going to be able to work over these next several weeks

6 months agoThe first session to “map” the area they want to treat took a couple hours for me. After that it was super efficient and only took 30-45 minutes each visit. I worked all the way through…but I have a desk job and had a very supportive employer. Good luck!

6 months agoI am going through my radiation treatment . My simulation took 45 minutes. I have already had two treatments , I will only need three more. I was done in 20 minutes, including my changing and positioning me. So it was fast for me.

6 months agoI had five weeks of bilateral beam radiation—five days a week. The sessions were quick but the last two weeks & several weeks afterwards I couldn’t have worked (I’m retired.). Everyone’s treatment journey is different.

6 months agoI agree, everyone is different. Listen to your body. I had radiation M-F for 4 weeks. For me, each time the process was quick and painless. The first 2 wks, I experienced no side effects but ther last 2 wks and for 2 wks after treatment, I had alot of skin to skin irritation. My breasts are large so they touched the area just below if in didn't wear a bra and between both breasts if they touched. I cut up pieces of an old but soft pillow case and used it as a barrier to prevent skin to skin contact and it helped. But honestly, for me, the last 2 wks were tough but through all of this, I found I CAN do hard things! You'll find what works for you.
