Yes, there are milder cancer treatment options beyond chemotherapy, and hormone therapy is actually one of the most effective treatments for estrogen-positive breast cancer like yours. Many patients with hormone-positive breast cancer do very well with hormone therapy alone, especially when other health conditions make chemotherapy too risky - your medical team is making decisions based on what's safest and most beneficial for your specific situation. It's completely understandable to have questions about your treatment plan, and discussing these concerns with your oncology team can help you feel more confident about the approach they've recommended.

6 months agoYes chemo is a high risk treatment. The benefits have to outweigh the risks. My oncotype was 27. The local oncologist wanted to do taxotere but I insisted on having preventive cardiology if I were going to do any form of chemo. That was not available in my area so they referred me to Fred Hutchinson center in Washington State. They do have preventative cardiology and integrative care but they said the risks did not outweigh the benefits in my particular case.
