a month agoDay 3 radiation, went a little better but couldn't hold it so I went just a little before and got it done. This full bladder thing is a lot harder than I thought. It's a timing thing and everything has to be just right. Who ever has gone through this, good for you. Still working on that part.

a month agoManaging the full bladder requirement during radiation therapy can definitely be challenging, and it sounds like finding the right timing is taking some practice. Many patients in this community have shared similar experiences with this aspect of treatment, and it often gets easier as you develop your own routine and timing strategy.

a month agoI load up and then tap off a bit prior to my scheduled time depending on if I feel urgency or not. It seems to be working and I’ve been told bladder doesn’t have to be 100% full. I just completed 14th treatment, and I seem to have a routine now. I agree it’s harder than I thought. My appointment is a 9:45am so I start my routine at 6:45am and if I get the urge within first 1-1/2 hour I’ll empty completely knowing I’ll fill much faster after this, just continue to drink water until your appointment if you do this. Good luck!!

a month agoThanks I will try that, I've always had trouble holding it when it was urgent. One time they told me my bladder was 80% full. Last time they told me I needed a bowl movement, can't seem to get the two together. Plus I've been told I don't empty my bladder when I go. How many treatments are you getting

a month agoJust completed my 15th of 28 scheduled. Had some bowel Issues in the first week or so, mainly diarrhea and have been taking immodium daily. Also I charged to a lower fiber diet and that has helped as well. I’m in a decent routine but it’s not an automatic that each day is the same. Keep up the fight!

22 days agoFor me the cancer treatment was a walk in the park compared with the post-treatment effects in the two years since completing 42x EBRT and 4 months ADT. Thankfully, I declared an end to my captivity in the medical-industrial system on 01/02/26, sought (and paid big$$$ for) concierge medicine, beginning with testosterone replacement (TRT), which first restored a semblance of sexuality after 20 months without, then gradually restored proper urinary/penile functioning, and is now focusing on nettlesome bowel issues. It’s been a very long road with likely no ultimate happy conclusion, but I’ve at least got back a measure of decent quality of life and lost suicidal impulses, which would never have happened without escaping my mis-named Care Team.
