I recommend everyone that have or had radiation get shingles vacine. I've had robotic removal of prostate(psa was 6.4) with 1 cancerous lymph node in May 2024, 35 days of radiation in Jan/Feb 2025, orgovyx started in June 2024 and now have shingles(nov 2025). After research, I found that many patients get shingles after radiation treatment unless you've had the vacine.

Thank you for sharing this important insight about the connection between radiation treatment and shingles risk. This kind of real-world experience can be really valuable for others in the community who may be facing similar treatment decisions. It's worth discussing the shingles vaccine with your oncology team, as they can provide personalized guidance based on your specific treatment history and current health status.

I’m currently getting low level radiation. Two more weeks until my 8 week treatment is complete. This is great information, and I will speak to the radiation oncologist about this. Thanks

Your welcome. Got my 1st shot of 2 on Jan 9th with the 2nd scheduled for July. My radiologist said I got shingles late after radiation. He indicated they usually come out a few months after radiation is complete, if they come out. Unusual for it to manifest 9 months after radiation. Good luck with the rest of your radiation. The end is in sight, I can relate.
