Has Anyone Used Hyperbaric Oxygen for Radiation Cystitis?

Dear Lee L — Yes, concerning hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)! I’ve experienced 29 complications of PCa treatment in the 27 months since conclusion of EBRT and ADT. None of my “care” team nor the 7 specialists I’ve seen have done, prescribed, or suggested anything that cured or alleviated a single one of these ridiculously named “side” effects. And none of these supposed medical experts has ever mentioned HBOT. However … just two weeks ago the AI program ChatGPT did in fact suggest that I look into HBOT. All I can say at the moment is that I’ve read everything I can find about it online and it seems promising. So I suggest that you keep inquiring, as will I, and we should stay in touch via O4M.

Update. Scheduled consultation with hypaberrick facility with a planned 40 sessions of oxygen treatment for 1.5 hour sessions, for my diagnosis. I have medicare a/b with supplemental G. All should be fully paid for by Medicare.

Dave S. Yes, I too use chatgpt extensively, especially this past weekend. I find it very helpful. It's unfortunate that no one in your care team told you about this a long time ago. I was fortunate the surgeon recommended it as soon as he saw me on my first issue. Hopefully hypaberrick will negate any future episodes.

I have had two courses of hyperbaric oxygen two years apart for radiation cystitis. The first course of 40 treatments gave me a 2 year remission. The second course this summer was only 20 treatments because the cystitis was not as bad. Though it is tiresome it is effective without side effects. Go for it!

Bernard G: thank you for the encouragement. I was hoping it would buy more time. I don't understand why the radiation damage doesn't stop after it's done. Can you give more info on your journey? Was your prostate removed? How many radiation treatments? How long ago for each? How many times did you suffer with cystitis? And, did they require surgery to cautirize the bleeding areas?
