4 days agoI have Stage 0 DCIS, and my surgery is scheduled. I haven't had radiation yet. I've been learning about the options: breast-conserving surgery, which removes only the area with cancer, sometimes followed by whole breast radiation or a shorter partial breast radiation. I've also read about mastectomy, which removes the whole breast and may involve reconstruction. I'd love to hear from others with a similar diagnosis about your experiences. - What was your experience with the surgery option you had? - What questions or details, like margins, came up for you along the way? Thank you for sharing anything that helped you.

4 days agoPreparing for DCIS surgery can bring up many questions, and asking for real stories from others is a caring step toward feeling more prepared. Community members who have faced Stage 0 breast cancer decisions, including lumpectomy, mastectomy, radiation, and margin results, are welcome to share what they learned. Writing down questions for the surgeon and care team ahead of time may also help each conversation feel clearer. Wishing you a smooth surgery day and a steady recovery.
