Husband 54yo was diagnosed last week when we took him to urgent care with stomach pain. escalated quickly out of nowhere. Advanced Stage 4 colon tumors throughout, spots deep in liver, neurotic lymph nodes, carcinomatosis. Ileostomy performed last week. Waiting on pathology to determine treatment options.

Does folic acid help with chemo side effects for colorectal cancer?

I have colorectal cancer and my doctor prescribed folic acid to take alongside my chemotherapy. They explained that this B vitamin helps support healthy cell growth and can reduce some side effects from treatments like methotrexate. It's supposed to help my body make healthy blood cells and prevent certain types of anemia. I'm also taking metformin, and my healthcare team is monitoring how everything works together. I'd love to connect with others who have been in a similar situation. • How did folic acid work for you during chemotherapy treatment? • What has your experience been like managing multiple medications during cancer treatment?
