Receiving a cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming, and those feelings are completely natural. Many people in this community have walked a similar path and have found that connecting with others who understand can provide comfort and practical insights during this time. Consider reaching out to your healthcare team with any questions about your specific situation and treatment options - they can provide the most relevant guidance for your unique circumstances.

Meryl so sorry for your diagnosis. I have had MBC since April 2024 But I am still here. Working with an amazing oncologist who doesn’t Scare me but gives me the treatment I have needed. This group. Your faith and a positive attitude will see you through.

Hi Meryl: I am 71 and was diagnosed with lung cancer (NSCLC) in 2022. I have been through and completed chemo, radiation and immunotherapy. Always stay positive and know that God truly is in control. I walk at least 6 days a week at my own pace through the park with my senior pug and I always feel so much better when I return. I deal with fatigue but I sit on the park bench when I need to and get back up and keep moving. I'm thankful for everyday. Cancer treatments have came a long way! You are going to do very well and victory will be yours.

Hey Meryl My name is Thomas and I’m 73 years old,I was diagnosed with lung and bone cancer last year in march.. I know what you’re going through but please don’t lose hope my friend.. I went through radiation therapy and two treatments of immunotherapy.. Great team of doctors I might add but the outcome was not pretty.. After the second immunotherapy treatment I told my oncologist I was done.. Please listen and make up your own mind.. I spent the next eight months going from the bedroom to the bathroom sick as hell waiting to get the chemicals out of my system.. Lost over 40 pounds and had no appetite whatsoever.. My doctor said it would take about that long so I was well informed.. But what changed everything for me was when I got down on my knees and gave everything to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ… As I told my doctor I put everything in his hands and gave thanks.. They originally told me I had one maybe two years at the most.. A couple of weeks ago I had a follow up with my doctor and was told my blood work was normal and there was NO sign of any growth. He said that in all his years of treatments I was the second patient he has experienced this with.. I’m eating like a horse and have put back almost all my weight.. And the past month or so I’ve been painting the exterior of our house.. in comparison last year I couldn’t lift the paint brush my friend.. I don’t know or care what religion you are all I can tell you is please just give it to God and let him take care of it.. We all have to go sometime whether we like it or not but no one knows how or when.. Believe in him and pray Meryl God Bless Thomas

Meryl, I was diagnosed with lung cancer back in 2024. I was panicked, but had both chemo and radiation. The chemo they gave me made me swell up so bad and the second was perfect. I did not have any surgery as to where the cancer was located. Now I am on Immunothertapy. I am also in remission since Christmas Please contact me if you need to talk. I am 78 years .

Hi! I’m Bob and I was diagnosed with NSCLC stage 4 almost 2 years ago. I started with radiation for cancer in my spine, and followed it with over a year of Keytruda treatments. My last 3 PET scans have shown me to be in remission PTL. I now have the luxury of complaining about the side effects of the Keytruda-muscle aches, weight loss, fatigue. I’m blessed with a very supportive family and an outstanding oncology team. It’s my wish that you be equally blessed.

Hello Meryl, my name is Steve and I am relatively new to this site but i have found it helpful. I was diagnosed with Hepatocelluar Carcinoma in January of 2024. Since then it has metastisized into my lungs and spine. It's is as you well know a shock to our whole system to be diagnosed with cancer. Worrying is a natural instinct for us, not knowing what lies ahead is very stressful. For me I simply had to concentrate on the I fo my oncologist was supplying me and I had to pay attention to the treatment. I know all too well how scary this is for you. Find a good support system with family and friends....find people who will simply listen to you and hold you when needed. I wish you peace during this process Meryl.

Hi Meryl, I just barely made it to Urgent Care on February 20th 2026 for my colon cancer where I was induced into a coma before my surgery that saved my life. I learned and so will you that there are GOOD angels out there and that we all wish for your success and recuperation! I have and am receiving emotional support from a counselor and I suggest you seek out the same if you are fortunate enough to have insurance that covers that. Finding others that have experienced cancer in any form will do the best for you. God bless you and your family, appreciate every second that you have with them, this is your second opportunity as the one I was granted to show that you care and are human. 🙏
