Recently diagnosed, scheduled for scan this week. 74 y/o male. Oncologist at Texas Oncology is the first doctor that spent nearly an hour with me and is recommending quad chemotherapy. My main concern now is that I live alone and how to manage whatever side effects arise. Suggestions?

Managing chemotherapy while living alone can feel overwhelming, but there are practical steps that can help make this journey more manageable. Consider setting up a support network of friends, family, or neighbors who can check in regularly, help with grocery shopping or meal prep, and provide transportation to appointments when needed. Many cancer centers also offer resources like patient navigators, support groups, and home care services that can provide additional assistance during treatment - it's worth asking about these options at the next appointment.

My experience with immunotherapy is much milder side effects than chemotherapy. In 6 years of treatment, I would never have needed help with the effects of treatment.
