5 months agoWhat does everyone think about not taking Medication that hopefully keeps your cancer away for hopefully a long time?I had stage three ovarian cancer. My last chemo was a year ago. I’m now taking medication for hopefully keeping my cancer from coming back.

Treatment decisions after cancer can feel overwhelming, and it's completely natural to have questions about continuing preventive medications. Many cancer survivors face similar thoughts about their ongoing treatment plans. Consider discussing these concerns with your oncology team - they can help you weigh the benefits and potential side effects based on your specific situation and medical history. What aspects of continuing or stopping the medication are weighing most heavily on your mind?

5 months agoI think it depends if your doctor thinks it will help. My doctor said that it wouldn’t help with my type of cancer and the side effects were worse than the intervention and outcome.

5 months agoThe type of ovarian cancer that I have is not the type that responds to Parp inhibitors. She said the only thing was to wait for it to come back and the amount of time it takes will determine my prognosis. I am actually headed to another facility for a second opinion this week and to a third opinion in early August. Sitting and waiting just to do the same thing seems counterintuitive to the way I usually approach things. If both opinions support this then I will have to accept it.

5 months agoAre you Hrd negative? I am.. I'm not sure if it responds to Parp inhibitors, but that's all they have I have the choice to do the same. Just wait and deal with it until it comes back or take the drug with all the side effects, hoping it helps me a few more months before a reoccurrence ??? My original treatment was at Moffitt Fl, and now in Michigan, so another Dr. Tomorrow, I have an appointment with a Holistic MD. Dr. who has had stage 4 OC HOPEFULLY new insight !!

4 months agoI was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer just over a year ago at age 71. I went through chemotherapy then total hysterectomy (plus scraping and removal of cancerous tissue in my intestines) then more chemotherapy. After surgery they did the pathology on the tumors and found it was MMMT, rather rare and does not respond to daily doses of chemotherapy to avoid reoccurrence. My CA125 at the onset was over 3000, last count in April, 13. My next checkup is next week and of course I am a bit anxious. I’m hoping for another 4 years and lots of travel with my husband of 52 years.

4 months agoPat, hi! I’ve read a lot about foods to eat that actually help fight cancer. Avacados, blueberries, cherries, pomegranate juice, lemon water, green tea, turmeric, spinach, kale, legumes, nuts, citrus. Just lots of healthy food. Eat healthy and exercise are good ways to keep cancer away. You can do it. I have stage 3c Ovarian. I’m having surgery on The 14th (2 days) I’m ready to get it done, recover and get exercising. Best of luck to you. 💪🏻💪🏻
