7 days agoHello my name is Aileen I am 62 years old. I was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer stage 2b. I have my port placement this Monday 3/16. Researching what I can do to help prevent neuropathy of hands and feet. Anyone have any experiences with the cold cap and cold gloves and booties? Any other insights?

6 days agoCold therapy methods like cold caps, gloves, and booties have shown promise in helping reduce chemotherapy-induced neuropathy by limiting blood flow to extremities during treatment. Many patients in this community have shared experiences with these approaches, and it's encouraging to see proactive thinking about managing potential side effects before treatment begins. Discussing these options with the oncology team will help determine what's most suitable and ensure proper coordination with the treatment plan.

3 days agoHi, I also am 2b with a lot of letters and numbers after it that weren't there when I was first diagnosed. I have spread to lymph nodes. I use the neuropathy gloves on my hands and feet 15 minutes prior to treatment. If my timing is off, and the chemo bag arrives later, I do it again for as many minutes as I can tolerate once chemo begins. Be aware that the pre-medications may keep you awake till the wee hours of the morning on chemo day. I wish you the best.
