Will 5FU chemo help cure my cancer or just extend life at 87?

Age 87. Was Stage 2. Had course of Paclitaxil in Spring 2025. Scans in Oct ‘25 showed good results. However, just 2 1/2- months later it had spread to my liver so Packitaxel had failed. Have now begun 5FU chemo. Does anyone know - will more chemo have any curative value? How much will it extend my life if at all. Is it simply palliative (placebo effect) ?

These are deeply important questions that many people face when navigating treatment decisions, and it's completely understandable to want clarity about what to expect. While treatment outcomes can vary significantly from person to person based on many individual factors, having open discussions with your oncology team about goals, expectations, and quality of life considerations can help guide these decisions. The community here has a wealth of shared experiences that might offer valuable perspectives as you navigate this journey.

I'm 74 and was diagnosed stage 4 two years ago. Started with paclitaxel and gemcitabine. I know several people who are gone now and can't figure out what the magic formula is. Five FU is still working for me and I'm trying to get access to Daraxonrasib. I don't have the kras gene mutation but I'd like to try the new drug anyway. I'm not sure that we can find Rhyme or Reason in why some people respond well and some don't. I have some treatment side effects but I feel reasonably good and happy. Despite the internet Lore, my doctors have assured me that no one survives stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I think accepting that may have helped me a lot to extend my days. Good luck and happiness to you Wayne.
